  • Fall and Winter 2025

I’m here, I’m there, I’m everywhere. Okay, not quite, but I am in three places at once. I have two pieces in Forest City Gallery’s “Synthesis” members’ show which opens Nov. 15 from 7 to 9 pm and runs to Dec. 12. I have six pieces in the St. Thomas-Elgin Public Art Center’s annual miniature show which runs Nov. 15 to Dec. 19. Finally, I just took eight pieces into Museum London’s Shop. Shown is “Cardinal Glory” a coloured pencil piece that is currently roosting at Museum London.

    Drawing Colour Plus

I have three pieces in “Drawing Colour,” June 28 to August 1, 2025 at the Ingersoll Creative Arts Center including “Round Robin.” This exhibit is devoted to Canadian coloured pencil. Participating artists include myself, fellow Londoners Cathy Burgoyne, Susan Florian, and Ana Tirolese, Woodstock resident Margaret Trapnell, and, from further afield, Jackie Gallagher (Etobicoke), Laura Steels Hitchcock (Meaford), Duff Jennings (Sault Ste. Marie), Nola McConnan (Toronto), and Bonnie Sheckter (Toronto). I’ve been working in coloured pencil for over 20 years. I love it as an artistic medium, because it allows for precision, versatility, and ease of use. Traditionally, in galleries and in museums, works on paper have been eclipsed by works on canvas. The root reason – paper was fragile and materials were unstable. With continuing advances in the manufacture of artist materials and ongoing artist exploration of surfaces, this is no longer true. This exhibition gives coloured pencil work the exposure it deserves. Of course, seeing is believing. https://www.creativeartscentre.com/. Here is a link to a video created by Ana M. B.
